The reason that I read these memoirs was to see what our former President, Harry S. Truman, thought and how he decided to act when confronted with such critical issues as the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, further insights into the Nuremberg Trials, and his dealings with Stalin after the cold war that resulted in the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain.
Since I served in Germany with the United States Army as a driver in intelligence (known as S2 in the 3rd Squadron, 8th Cavalry Division), from 1971 through 1974, I was hoping to find some historical background on what I experienced in the early '70s in Europe as a very, very young man.
