Reviews of the Day: 1922
A search of the years 1922–23 found no “Reviews of the Day” in any newspapers or journals. Since this was published by The Plimpton Press of Norwood, Massachusetts, it may have been a limited run of the book that was not widely circulated or critiqued. It is also an early work of B. C. Forbes, probably before he was well recognized in the publishing industry.
An earlier work was "Keys to Success." This short work about "Teamwork" from 1922 is a four-article subset of this earlier work which was , apparently, published in the years of 1917 and 1918. “[In government,] had not Lincoln been able to evolve teamwork from his brilliant but high-strung, erratic Cabinet officers, the Civil War might not have ended when it did. He was big enough and broad enough to handle even the eccentric geniuses with whom he was surrounded.
“Often, Abraham Lincoln submitted to what others—had they occupied his place—would have regarded as intolerable humiliation. That’s one secret of the successful team worker – he doesn't wear a chip on his shoulder; he doesn't look for slights; he is not constantly on the alert lest his “dignity” be insulted. …

This Author’s Thoughts on "Teamwork"
As discussed above, this is a short read. It is an excerpt of four articles from “Keys to Success.” It is written in B. C. Forbes’ typical style of short, dramatic, to-the-point statements. He doesn’t waste or mince words in this work.
All of the articles are common-sense statements of fact to most responsible individuals—unless you are an “apologist,” one who blames their or their race’s shortcomings on others rather than shouldering the burden of self-responsibility. The article on “You” is the best of the four. Teamwork which was published in 1922 is in the public domain. Select the link to the right to read. Cheers, - Pete |
